Disgrifiad o'r contract
An award has been made by Neath Port Talbot Council for the following:-
Background:-
The Visitor Economy team at Neath Port Talbot Council has recently been awarded funding from the Heritage Culture, Tourism and Events Fund a tranche of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund to re-imagine the popular Richard Burton trails in readiness for a celebration of the centenary of Richard Burton’s birth in 2025
Requirements:-
The Council has appointed a suitably qualified project management and interpretive design consultancy service to design the project, undertake community consultation and deliver the Richard Burton Trails project in full by 31st December 2024.
The intention is that the trails will continue to follow the existing routes in Pontrydyfen and Port Talbot, but these will need to be reviewed by the successful consultancy to ensure that the routes remain safe and suitable for promotion. The successful consultancy is also able to make recommendations to re-route or expand the existing trails where this is deemed beneficial to the project.
The successful consultancy must deliver the following as a minimum requirement of this specification;
1. Survey of existing routes to ascertain safety and suitability, due to vandalism and lack of maintenance it should be assumed that all existing interpretive materials currently in situ relating to the trails will be removed.
2. Undertake consultation with local community stakeholders, in particular (but not exclusively) the Bont Burton Group in Pontrhydyfen and the Calon Afan Group in Port Talbot.
3. Design and install the proposed interpretation along the trails which may consist of physical interpretation boards, sound posts and other interactive, multimedia and sensory formats, to be determined by an interpretive designer.
4. Install two statues/ art installations/ memorials to Richard Burton, one should be at an agreed location in Pontrhydyfen and the other in an agreed location in Port Talbot.
5. Seek out and secure all relevant permissions required from landowners (this in the most part consists of NPTCBC and Natural Resources Wales) to install the interpretation proposed.
6. Create an online interactive map resource (in an accessible format) to sit on the Dramatic Heart of Wales website (Word Press) for the trail to enable potential visitors and residents of Neath Port Talbot to learn about the important history of Richard Burton.
A detailed delivery schedule shall ensure that all elements of the project can be delivered by no later than 31st December 2024.
