Transport for Wales (Trafnidiaeth Cymru) (TfW) exists to drive forward the Welsh Government's vision of a high quality, safe, integrated, affordable and accessible transport network of which the people of Wales are proud.
We are potentially seeking a technology partner to assist with the bus network development and customer information teams within TfW from design stage through to data generation for downstream systems.
Our core objectives are to:
- Standardise the scheduling/ timetabling system provision across TfW;
- Ensure a primary system for bus is available for core TfW processes: network design, engagement, customer information, procurement, contract management, network performance, ticketing and revenue analysis and;
- Improve workflows of the TfW teams to generate schedules for our programmes including Traws, Traveline Cymru, franchising, realtime systems and an upcoming multimodal digital customer system.
We intend to undertake pre-market engagement with this PIN with the structure to be confirmed at a later date and Supplier will be given the full details. The structure can be via Meet the Buyer event, one-to-one sessions or written feedback request and will be open to all Suppliers that register their interest via email on SupplyChain@tfw.wales.
Please note that this is only an early pre-market engagement, and no quotations or proposals will be accepted or reviewed at this stage. Notes and information from this engagement will be shared as part of the Tender Documentation pack when this opportunity is actually tendered later this year.
The current anticipated timetable for the procurement is listed below:
- Issue of Prior Information notice and pre-market engagement – September/October 2024
- Issue of ITT – October 2024
- Tender Deadline – November/December 2024
- Contract Award – February 2025
- Contract Start Date - April 2025
TfW is not bound by the above dates, and they may be subject to change.
The aim of our PIN is to develop our workflow requirements and understand the market capability to supply core functionality at key points in the network development and customer information journey, including post-award activities in network performance and change management.
This may include:
- Design process and information available to users,
- Mapping and timetable capability for both fixed and demand responsive services,
- Scheduling options for diesel and alternative power vehicles,
- Understand the user experience and file management process,
- Utilising data to provide accurate schedules
- Reporting capabilities
- Data management – import and export functionality, including the publication of customer facing datasets
- Scope to manage contract information and monitor performance of services
