The supplier must have substantial experience in delivering the range of educational support activities outlined below. The supplier must: provide consistent and high-quality support for registrars to enable them to prepare efficiently and effectively for the Part A exam. Tutorials will cover all aspects of the Part A exam (although not all the curricula will be directly taught) and the mock exam will be a realistic practice for the actual exam. <br/><br/>Tenderers should be capable of demonstrating:<br/>- Commitment to this area of work and the overall aim of delivering high quality tutorials<br/>- A track record of involvement in postgraduate Public Health training.<br/>- Ability to deliver the service requirements as per 5<br/>- A working knowledge of the Public Health training programme.<br/>- A short biography of those involved in the delivery should be submitted. This should include professional status, details of expertise in the area, experience of delivering examination tutorials and providing feedback.<br/><br/>4. Detailed Requirements <br/>Mandatory Requirements<br/>There are three elements to this service: <br/>A) Part A Exam Tutorials <br/><br/>This service is key in supporting StRs prepare for the Faculty of Public Health Part A Examination. <br/>The Part A examination is a key assessment tool of the FPH Curriculum. Part A is intended to test candidates' knowledge and understanding of the scientific basis of public health, and their ability to apply their knowledge and skills to the practice of public health. It consists of two written papers (Paper I and Paper II). Both Papers I and II are split into two parts/components A and B (Paper IA, Paper IB, Paper IIA and Paper IIB) and are taken over two consecutive days. Paper I is designed primarily to test knowledge, and Paper II primarily to test skills. In Paper I, candidates answer 10 compulsory short answer questions across the range of the knowledge syllabus. Paper II tests a candidate’s basic skills in critical appraisal, distillation of information from supplied material, data manipulation and preparation of a written brief in some form. <br/>The exam is held in January and June each year. Candidates normally take Part A exam within 18 months starting their training if entering at ST1 and six months if entering at ST2.Further information on Part A exam can be found at http://www.fph.org.uk/part_a_exam <br/>B) Administrative support to the regional Public Health registrar’s meetings <br/>Registrars in Public Health in the West Midlands hold quarterly all-day educational meeting. These meetings will be held at the University of Birmingham. <br/>C) Administrative support to the running of the mock part B examination <br/>The Part B examination is held four times a year. It consists of six eight-minute stations. To help prepare local registrars for the examination, mock examinations are held twice a year. These examinations will be held at the University of Birmingham and are organised by local registrars, together with input from Educational Supervisors.
